A few of my favourite books are Bill Brysons “One Summer”, “a Short History of Nearly Everything”, and (my absolute favourite) “At Home”. They’re all similar in that they use a framing mechanism to explore moments or people in history, but in a fairly casual manner, without going into too much detail. Broad overviews of specific points in time, if that makes any sense.

I’ve read everything Bryson has written, and need more! Anything similar to this style?
