I love books but for some reason, I feel put off by sex scenes, especially those that don’t concern the plot/explanation, whether consensual or violent.
I love reading books and comics like Good Omens (still reading, loving it so far), V.E Schwab’s Villian series(loved it), Deep Work(still reading), The Woman in the Window (I didn’t like the second half, meaningless sex, predictable plot twist), The Silent Patient (one of the books that shocked me and the sex scene was bearable), Agatha Christie Books(and then there were none is my fav), Sandman, the whisper man(still reading, so far good), Verity (to read), Red Dragon(still reading, might drop it) and a couple of short stories by Ruskin Bond.
I am into thriller, mystery (great combo), detective, comedy, satire, supernatural, horror, sci-fi, history fiction and basically anything that doesn’t feel like a B-grade movie(unless the movie has a really great plot)
Please recommend me some books from any of your favorite genre but with less sex scenes or at least one that makes sense for the plot.
I am open to trying anything new!
Thanks and have a great day(or night)!

You liked Good Omens, have you read any Discworld?
It’s humourous fantasy that becomes more satirical over time. There’s fewer than five sex scenes across forty-one books and those are more like sex sentences than actual scenes. Clearly the people in Ankh-Morpork are continuing to produce a supply of people, we just don’t get any details about the mechanics. I’d suggest Guards! Guards! as a starting point, it’s a sort of police procedural but the murder weapon is a dragon.
Verity by Colleen Hoover definitely has sex in it, if that’s the Verity you’re talking about. I’m not sure if you’ll end up liking it
I’m much more into SFF, but based on the books you reference I think you might get into:
“Six Wakes” by Mur Lafferty
“Up Against It” by MJ Locke
Mysteries/Thrillers:
The Enigma of Room 622 and The Disappearance of Stephanie Mailer by Joël Dicker
The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton
Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh
Everyone in my Family has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson
An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena
Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane
I’m Travelling Alone by Samuel Bjørk
Killing Floor by Lee Child (this has some briefly mentioned sex scenes, the author doesn’t insist on them at all).
I just downloaded the app StoryGraph for the statistics, but an unexpected bonus was content warnings for the books. I’ve been wishing for something like that for ages cause I also don’t like a lot of sex in books. So maybe a StoryGraph account would be a good idea for when you choose books in the future
