I made a post a couple of days ago asking for easy reads to palate cleanse after having read a bunch of grimdark books, and got a lot of good recs

However, I realized that what I ACTUALLY want is some kind of ya-ish book.

In the vein of the scholomance series or the red queen series, with a clearly overpowered main character (preferably a girl), maybe even a chosen one archetype, and a decent enough plot to keep me intrigued

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a ya series, these traits just seem more common in ya

I read a lot, so anything very obvious I have already read. Some notable ones (in no particular order or reason but mostly to just avoid people’s favorite recs):

Harry Potter (which I do not f with anymore for terf reasons)

Almost all of the Sanderson books (man can’t do wrong imo)

    Cradle

    Red rising

    Kings dark tidings

    Malazan

Gideon the 9th and the rest of that series

    Robin hobb

    The expanse

    Licanius trilogy

    The faithful and the fallen

    Wayward children

A few different Jim butcher series (hate this guy’s books tbh)

    Magician by Feist

    Cassandra Clare

    Middlegame and its sequel

Most of Ve schwab (not that I particularly loved any of them either)

    Most naomi novik

Nk Jemisin (almost all of hers)

Phillip Pullman (his dark materials is the only one that interested me)

Stephen king (do not like any of his stuff unfortunately)

    Fourth wing

Acotar and her other series with the assassin ho

    RF Kuang

    Sabaa Tahir

    Reign of mist

    The emperium trilogy

    Ash princess trilogy

Holly black (I hate her books, sorry)

    The black witch

    Leigh bardugo’s books

    Laini Taylor’s books

The raven king and the related spin offs

    Hunger games and the prequel

I’m fine with almost any subgenre, but I usually don’t like middle grade, humor, urban fantasy, or romance. (Not that I don’t like books WITH these things, I just usually don’t like them as a major genre in the books)

    Tia for recs!
