Last month I discovered Dune was made into a movie, right in time for the second movie. I’d always wanted to read the book, so in response to watching the new film, I picked up the book Sunday. Then I picked up Dune Messiah. Now I’m halfway through Children of Dune. It’s been a week. I plan on finishing the series and want to keep going afterwards. I know this one is probably in this subreddit A LOT as of late, so I thought I’d list out some specific things I enjoy about stories and TV shows in general and see what suggestions I get back:
* Shows I’ve obsessed over: Star Trek, GoT, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Firefly, Westworld, Outlaw Star, Deathnote, Dexter, Succession
* Genres: – Would like to avoid YA; Likes: Science Fiction, Fiction, Memoirs, Fantasy, Dystopia, Fantasy/Sci-Fi Epics, Romance where the entire plot doesn’t revolve around it
* Thought-provoking tropes; A hero who slowly becomes the villain; A likeable protaganist who becomes painfully unlikable(or vice versa), has deep character flaws; Lots of grey area, Antihero, Well-meaning people making very difficult decisions or facing situations where the best decision isn’t obvious, etc.
* Excellent worldbuilding/ very immersive
* Fast moving plots or “plots within plots within plots”
* Very witty entertaining prose (I read a quarter of Christopher Moore’s You Suck and liked it, but never finished it.) or very immersive and descriptive writing that’s easy to visualize.
Hopefully this isn’t too convoluted; Thanks in advance!
