I had a dream the other day in which A royal family owns a robot, younger members grow up with her and see her as family. Discover eventually that robot uses the barely living corpses of people to sustain her sentience. They try terminating her, but this leads to a horrific few months of mental torture, sadness, and paranoia through the robot’s manipulation of them. Eventually, the son who was most attached to robot kidnaps a man from the street and feeds his body to the robot, giving her life once more.

I’m sure there is, but my brain is fitzing. Most famous is Final Fantasy VII, a weird mashup of magic, modern day, and sci-fi. But that’s a game, not a book…
