My boyfriend M20, wants to try his hand at reading books after seeing me read a lot,unfortunately my scope of books is pretty much limited to fantasy, sci-fi and romance. He’s recently gotten into some anime and really enjoyed attack on titan and death note.
Since he’s not read anything outside of school, I’ve asked what sort of thing he looks for in Tv shows. He said:
Genre: Thriller, Mystery, not opposed to romance but not solely the main focus.
Has watched and enjoyed: Dark, You, Beef, Am I Being Unreasonable?, Breaking Bad, Sherlock, Arcane, Better Call Saul, S1 Fargo, Severance, BoJack Horseman, Black Mirror, Peaky Blinders, The Boys, Invincible

A solid starting book if he likes sci-fi is a good bit of The Martian or Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Can’t go wrong.

Anthologies might be a good start.
Just After Sunset by Steven King
and I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison.
Elmore Leonard’s stuff might be a good place to start.
