So, I really enjoy reading and I can spend a whole afternoon just reading something, I’ve read some of the most classic ones everyone else knows about, but for a long time I used to read fanfiction since I never found anything else that really caught my attention.
I stopped reading because I didn’t had enough time but I want to go back to it, not with fanfictions entirely though, but I want to go back to having that habit because I don’t want to spend all my free time doing nothing on my phone or computer.
I really enjoy dark themes, histories that can easily make me cry while reading because of the tragedy, I guess what I’m looking for is just a book with a dark and sad history, preferably with character death because I like to suffer for characters.
Horror books are fine too! Thanks for the suggestions in advance <3

The Timekeeper’s Conspiracy. If you look on Amazon and choose the kindle version, you can read a preview, it’s sad.
Try a thousand splendid suns by Khalid hosseini
Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche
The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead
Tale of 2 cities had stirred me and the character development was great.
Also try [These](https://imgur.com/a/1NhyFUi) for a great read and they will move you.
[This one](https://imgur.com/a/gdBzBcz) is a favorite tear jerker and it’s a good read ☝️
What We Fed the Manticore by Talia Lakshmi Kolluri is 12 short stories from the POV of animals. 9 of them made me cry, one to the point of actually causing pain in my heart. I’m glad I purchased it instead of getting it from the library because I’ll go back to it whenever I need catharsis.
