I feel like moreso nowadays there’s more TELLING through dialogue instead of SHOWING through actions.

I feel like a really good slowburn romance could potentially do a wonderful job at showing me the kind of relationship development i’m looking for.

I love the really really REALLY slowburn romances because it’s more believable for me. I understand initial attraction but strangers to lovers can sometimes feel very lusty. I prefer gradual attraction and intimacy. I really want to see the characters slowly fall in love, from beginning to end.

any tropes are welcome but I don’t really like enemies to lovers when it’s not in a fantasy setting. depending on the plot, rivals to lovers is okay.

    any suggestions?

    1. You can try “Gone with the wind.” I didn’t know it was a love story until the climax

    2. Knotty-reader on

The Others series by Anne Bishop. Starts with Written in Red. It is an Urban Fantasy in that it’s an alternate Earth fantasy set in a city. There is a central love story and it is a sloooooow burn. Like over multiple books. It’s not spicy, iirc, but I just adore the whole series.
