I never got around to HPL since horror is not my thing really.. However I just bought the RPG Call of Cthulhu (newly released Swedish version) and so it is kinda recommended to at least have read something.

What’s most accessible for a newcomer to HPLs universe? The publishers of the game list 10 books as “should read” but where is a good start? If it is available on Kindle it would be good but not a must.

    Thanks in advance!

My vote would be At the Mountains of Madness. More of a preference thing though. All of the stories are kind of dense, in terms of the language. But mountains of madness is a very cleary presentation of what “lovecraftian” has come to mean, imo. Shadows over innsmouth is also a good one. And I’m very fond of pickman’s model. You should prbly read call of Cthulhu, but it’s not my personal favorite.

Just read some of his shorter horror stories.
I really liked “The temple”, “rats in the walls” and “dagon” .

Then, if you liked those, you should read his “longer stories” like “call of cthulhu” , “the dunwich horror” , “at the mountains off madness” ecc
