I have read a few books recently that claimed to be ghost stories, but were more Scooby Doo and The Gang, where it wasn’t actually a ghost but a person or thing making something seem spooky. I don’t really want demons, evil spirits, or horror, but just a good case of the supernatural. Any fiction novel suggestions would be great, thank you!

I really liked Twelve Nights at Rotter House. The MC ekes out a living writing travelogues about his visits to famous haunted places, and has a chance to stay for 12 nights in a famously haunted house. He convinces his best friend, who loves horror movies, to come with him. Of course, neither of them thinks the house is *actually* haunted…
