I’m interested in fantasy with in-depth worldbuilding in which elements of the world (ideally both fundamental ones and inconsequential ones) are withheld from the reader at first but hinted at subtly such that they may piece it together, like a mystery novel but for fantastic worldbuilding

    1. Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe. Putting together the world and the underlying themes of what’s happening is like piecing together a puzzle

    2. The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin
A dystopian, with 3 perspectives at different timeframes.

      The Wandering Inn by Pirateaba
A bit more leisurely and light hearted, but some of the best world building I’ve read. I’m onto the 5th book and the big reveal of “the truth behind the world” moments just get better and better. So many interesting details and implications to discover.
