As title says, I have been in a bit of a lull after some recent all time favorites. I am wrapping up LOTR right now, which are fantastic, but looking to read something more standalone or (like I mention below for Hyperion) 2 book series. Hit me with your utmost favorites that you think would fill any of my Sci-Fi, Fantasy, or Horror/Mystery/Thriller.

**Looking for:**
\- What you would call a top 3 book of all time for you within the mentioned genres.
\- I listed some of my all time favorites below, so if you read those and feel they are 5/5s, and can recommend other 5/5s, that is fantastic.

**Trying to avoid:**
\- 1,000+ page type book series (Sanderson)
\- 3+ book series
\- Neil Gaiman – have tried a few of his, but just doesn’t click. I only enjoyed Norse Mythology out of his major works.
\- Brandon Sanderson – just too long for me right now while also reading Wheel of Time.
\- Not a big BookTok fan – Hoover, etc.

**F****avorite Books of all time**
\- Hyperion (first two, wasn’t huge on 3/4) by Dan Simmons. Likely my favorite book of all time. Time, space, religion, love, enemies, action. It has it all for me. I blitzed through these in 72-96 hours, I couldn’t put them down. This was a total 11/10 for me.
\- 11/22/63 – Love 50s/60s settings. This one just was special to me. King really made you feel like you were there and just felt the pace was fantastic. Couldn’t put it down.
\- LOTR – Speaks for itself. I know Brandon Sanderson writes some great epic fantasies, but my favorite part of LOTR is how concise but powerful it is. I am reading Wheel of Time here and there, but would rather not take on another long series like Jordan/Sanderson/Erikson right now.
\- Revelation Space (book 1, so far) – I like Reynolds sci-fi writing.
\- Witcher series. Originally a fan of the game, but books were amazing.
\- Name of the Wind – shame its unfinished!!
\- Apt Pupil – the ‘horror’ of this novel is my preference; I am not a huge hack and slash horror fan. This was just true travesty. This one is one of the very few horror books that was unsettling to me. Which is great!
\- Circe – love anything involving ‘gods’/mythological either Norse or Greek. I liked how Miller just dove super hard into a single goddess.
\- Project Hail Mary – loved beginning to end. I loved the hard science included, but also the ‘alien’ aspect. Smooth writing despite the hard science.
\- The Warded Man – great twist to fantasy with demons. I almost ordered the whole set halfway through, I was so in love. Then I hit that last 25% where it just became about S.A. and women… odd twist of writing. Worth mentioning because I couldn’t put it down up that point!
