Hello! I have tried for a long time to get into books, but rarely have I ever enjoyed any. Most of the time I feel like I am just doing a chore to try and get through, but a few books I have enjoyed:
– Prelude to Foundation by Asimov (I actually didn’t really enjoy the others)
– The Thran by J Robert King (I am a magic: the gathering nerd but the story itself was really good.)
– I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison (Yeah, it’s actually a short story but I liked it a lot)
– Machine Man by Max Barry (didn’t totally thrill me but more enjoyment from it than the feeling of being a chore.)
Things I like in books:
– An interesting mystery.
– A dark setting, particularly science fiction.
– good worldbuilding.
– themes of philosophy
– surrealism
– fast pace, important things impact the story frequently
Things I don’t like in books:
– A lack of things happening. The book is mostly introspection or exploring emotions, memories, or the thoughts of the protagonist.
– A book that wastes time with unimportant details.
Also I’m sad to say this, but I would need a book that has an audiobook version because I don’t have the time to read a physical book.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to think of something I’d like! I really appreciate it and I will try to give everything I can a shot.
