After discovering the “The Tapper Twins” series as a kid and having my mind blown, I’ve been a sucker for books that go beyond typical prose, even if it’s on a meta level. An example would be Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone, authors of “This Is How You Lose the Time War”, each representing one of two characters in their letter writing. Stories told through audio transcripts, in the wrong order, with plays on text and imagery, through multiple unreliable narrators, etc.

House of Leaves is probably the most obvious answer, and while it can be divisive I really loved it.
