Hello! I have a Kindle that’s over 10 years old and while I love it, I feel it’s time for a change. Kindle is out of the question because I’ve seen their most recent models come with ads unless you pay a higher price, and I don’t want to support a business model like that.
I have no experience with other eReader brands, so any and all other suggestions are appreciated!

I have a kindle with ads and I saw a tiktok where you can talk to Amazon support and say you’re getting ‘inappropriate’ ads and they’ll remove them for free. I did that and it worked for me.
Kobo are great, and you can side load the books.
That said, I have an Elipsa 2, so I’m not exactly fishing at the regular price point
I have the kindle paperwhite signature edition and don’t see any ads besides the occasional book recommendation on my library screen (never while in book) bought it a year ago so I think you’d be safe getting one.
I love my Kobo. I use Libby a lot and the seamless experience is lovely. There’s an ereader sub and subs for each of the big brands if you have technical questions. I was really stuck and they helped me out.
I’ve got a Kobo Clara 2E, I really like it. I think it’s comparable to a Kindle Paperwhite. Except for the amazing feeling of not supporting Amazon 😛
