Jane Yolen is a gifted author with a clear love of folklore and mythology, and her short stories have a very pleasing rythym to them, but I do not think that she can write poetry. I really enjoyed the collections she put out, and have for over a decade but I found so many of the poems she put beside the explanations and inspiration for them to be so…. twee and disjointed? They lacked rythym and flow and I wound up skipping them more often than not.

Jane Yolen can definitely write poetry. You just don’t like her poetry.
