If you’re open to a very long book, [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard! It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.

You’d probably get better reccomendations if you got a little more specific in what you’re looking for. Maybe you’d dig Alex Garland’s Coma, as it’s a nice quick read and deals with the psyche. Maybe Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun? That one is such a sweet and earnest look at the mind of an AI. For something more philosophical, maybe The Tao of Pooh? Good introduction to Taoism there. Hope you find what you’re looking for!

“Mindful” makes me think of The Wizard’s Butler. An Afghanistan war vet becomes the butler for a rich, elderly wizard. It’s a very soothing cozy urban fantasy where not much happens.

For a request without any real specifcation, I would recommend something like a collection of short storys or a Agatha Christe’s or Patricia Highsmith’s novel. This two exemples are usually fast paced and don’t require much of you to keep going, perfect to kill some time while you dont have any specic interest to follow.
You could also try reading something written by the autor of the last book you enjoyed. Or if you like movies you could try reading the screenplay of your favorite. Or simply read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, a classic, often referenced and just a amazing read overall.
