I’ve been ordering some hardcovers of some classics because I want nice copies of the books, and I keep being sent copies with remainder marks on the edge, and I’m annoyed that they’re marked up but sold as “new.” To me, a book isn’t in “new” condition if it has sharpie on it, but maybe I’m being too picky?

Still new to me so long as it hasn’t had a private owner yet.
Hmm. No. I wouldn’t consider it new, to me new means unread, pristine condition. Where are you buying them from that the remainders are being sold as “new”??
Are they sold as “new” but they Acknowledge in the description there may be a remainder mark?
