I am looking for something for my husband to read. He spends a lot of time doomscrolling on his phone and I would like to be able to suggest a book that may grasp his attention.
His interests include hockey, video games like PUBG or Bannerlord, he is into some history stuff anything from like the Roman Empire to WWII, and he is a professional chef who loves to page through cookbooks. His favorite shows and movies are Game of Thrones (which I have suggested), Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, the F1 and the NFL deep dive documentaries, Band of Brothers, Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul, Ozarks, and Stranger Things. He also says he likes “fucked up mystery shows” and detective shows.
The last book he remembers reading completely was “Unbroken” by Laura Hillenbrand, which was more than 10 years ago in high school. He has started but not completed “The Hobbit” and “The Fellowship of the Ring”, quoting that they were hard to follow with the older writing style.
I would love any and all suggestions. Bonus points if there is likely not a several month wait time at a midsize city public library. Thank you!
