I’m trying to make my work lunch breaks a bit more productive. I’ve tried reading paperbacks at lunch but it’s hard to do when I share a space with others who like to chat.
I just had a thought, what about smaller ebooks that I can read on my phone? So if you have anything like under 200ish pages I might be keen.
I read The Rook recently and it was incredible. I love horror, mystery, action, comedy, sci-fi for some examples. I’m really open minded about this venture though!

The Murderbot Diaries, since you like sci-fi. I have made my way through the first two. I know some of the books further in the series are longer but the first two were very quick reads!
How about the Sherlock Holmes short stories? Great mysteries that you can have the satisfaction of reading at one sitting.
Jim Harrison wrote many novellas before he passed away. Many of his books are collections of three novellas in a book. He’s becoming my new favorite writer. He’s known best for writing Legends of the Fall
Foster by Claire Keegan is an exquisite novella. It touches on some heavy themes but does so with a light touch.
You can probably find collections of short stories by Clarke, Asimov, Heinlein, etc…
Hyperion is a long novel, but told as a collection of short stories.
There’s a book called “Bradbury Stories”, it’s a collection of 100 of his best short stories. Absolutely amazing stuff and perfect for quick reads.
Cozy mysteries are my favorite for situations like this. They’re easy enough to follow that I don’t have to worry about missing things while distracted.
