I’m looking for a book where the main antagonist’s backstory is he is always sidelined by society no matter how good of a person he was. This fuels him to work harder than everyone to get power abandoning what is considered good just to make the society acknowledge him/ pay attention to him.
Kind of like the De Niro movie King of Comedy.
Tldr: good guy gets neglected looked down upon, does whatever it takes to gain power and in his journey becomes a villain just to gain attention.
