This is not a real genre as far as I know, but I’m not sure what else to call it. I love books like The Gifted School by Bruce Holsinger, Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, and Hope by Andrew Ridker.
These books all have one thing in common: they take place in upper middle class communities, and there is serious dysfunction under the surface. I love watching conflicts unfold, hearing different characters’ perspectives, and experiencing “mess” in a risk free but immersive way.
Do you have any dysfunctional suburbia recs for me?
