I’ll put a list of what I like in the series before getting ramble-y:
– vampires
– all-consuming love
– the writing kind of emphasizes the obsession and creates a certain anxiety
– new moon’s bits about trauma from edward leaving are so devastating and also as a late 20-something relatable after a boyfriend suddenly broke up with me with no warning (though that’s the only similarity with twilight lmao)
– 1st person is the Correct POV for twilight and I like 1st person but isn’t necessary
I’m not looking for anything that so much as mentions sex tbh I would love to avoid that at this time, just something that’s about adults where I might be able to relate to a bit more than reading about high school. I loved twilight growing up and am currently revisiting the series for the 2nd time as an adult, this time in audiobook form while at work, and I just want to read something that has the same intensity, and would love if vampires were involved because I Just Think They’re Neat.
I don’t necessarily care about some sort of vampire war or catastrophe that needs to be stopped. Something I hate about New Moon (having just finished the audio book today) is how easily Bella gets over the abandonment and is just like “huh I guess I knew he loved me all along” because that shit is NOT easy to move past when you’re suddenly abandoned for no fault of your own and then they come back, the whole ending of new moon after Edward came back is just weak writing imo and abandons Bella’s character as the most blatant Mary Sue writing in the series
