books where the protagonist is lonely and wandering around the city at night, observing things. would love it if there, at some point, comes a character who accompanies him in his wandering.

so basically something like the catcher in the rye, begin again (movie; keira knightley, mark ruffalo). i just want loneliness as a theme and a person that somehow just makes it better for the protagonist, even if for a little while. it would be even better if it’s a narrative occuring in just one night. sorry if i got too specific.
