hi, so i’m doing an English major rn. i do love reading but i’ve fallen short on reading classic books, which is unfortunate. i’m feeling quite motivated to read more of them recently so i’ve come here for any recommendations.
here’s the very short list of classics i’ve read:
– 1984, for fun- not for school
– the bell jar (ages ago)
– little women
that’s it 😭😭 i’m not sure how it’s this short but it is
i’ve started many of them, don’t get me wrong. i just don’t end up finishing them. looking for something fairly short or entertaining, something i’ll actually finish reading.
there’s also books that aren’t quite classics like *the secret history* and *norwegian wood*… not sure if they fit, but i’ve read those as well.
here’s a list of classics i own, if you’d like me to try picking one up:
– pride and prejudice
– mrs. dalloway
– into the lighthouse
– the handmaids tale
– the colour purple
– brave new world
– the colour purple
– the death of ivan ilyich
– never let me go
– klara and the sun
– lolita
i think that’s it, but there’s also the ones i’m not sure are classics or not:
the vegetarian, human acts, the kite runner, sputnik sweetheart, the year of magical thinking, the glass castle, my brilliant friend
any recommendations? please lmk if there’s any that made you fall in love with reading
