I was never an avid reader, but in middle/high school I did really enjoy it with books like Catcher in the Rye, The Outsiders, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, etc.
Eventually I got a job while in high school and became interested in spending my free time doing other things. I’ve recently gotten back into it with Fahrenheit 451 and I REALLY like the intellectual properties of it. It unlocked a certain creativity in me I haven’t seen in a long time, so here I am asking for suggestions on other books that share some of those properties. I can’t really describe it so I’m hoping my point gets across, thanks!
“We are living in a time when flowers are trying to live on flowers, instead of growing on good rain and black loam. Even fireworks, for all their prettiness, come from the chemistry of the Earth. Yet somehow we think we can grow, feeding on flowers and fireworks, without completing the cycle back to reality. ” – Fahrenheit 451

Frankenstein!! Also if you want an insanely beautiful book with so much symbolism that it’s honestly kinda challenging to read—Beloved. But warning it is extremely dark and emotionally taxing.
