Is there any books that made you feel in love with the world that they have created but hated the main characters that you were stuck with ?

A few months ago I was reading a Brazilian fantasy trilogy called “the coal swordsman”, the world is by far the best part of the books, it reminds me a lot of darksun and Conan and there’s a bunch of new races, but the characters are SO boring, and there’s like 3-4 of them so we are stuck with the boring af main character that doesn’t evolve nor develops
