Hey, I’ve just started getting into reading and after only reading stuff that I’ve seen a book/movie counterpart to I’ve kind of run dry on what to read next. I love books that are very large scale and have complex characters, and are pretty dialogue heavy. So far I’ve loved a song of ice and fire, dune, and the latter half of Harry Potter. One book series I really REALLY hated was the lord of the rings, if that helps at all

Does it have to be a book with a movie counterpart?
The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch
Red Rising is a great series for starting relatively small and then growing rapidly in scale and complexity. Recommend it If you like the idea of a man who’s loved one is murdered by a despotic government, deciding he has to burn the whole galaxy to the ground.
