Hello,
I have had books that meant the world to me, but they now only matter because they used to make me feel understood – like a nostalgia.
Words and stories are incredibly important to me and it frustrates me that I haven’t read anything that truly, entirely moves me in a while.
Books I previously loved:
The Book Thief
Animal Farm
Fahrenheit 451
1984
Thank you!

Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott. It makes me feel seen the way I think other people feel seen by poetry.
Beach Music by Pat Conroy,
The Space Adventures Of Commander Laine
The shack
Mornings in Jenin & The Moors Account
I’ve just finished Betty by Tiffany Mcdonald and it was one of the most moving things I’ve read in ages.
I just finished a Month in the Country by JL Carr. It’s not a sad book, but it is just nostalgic. Kind of the feeling you get when the summer is ending.
Watership Down moved me quite a bit, and it might be up your alley
I just finished All Quiet on the Western Front, by Erich Maria Remarque, and it was just so haunting.. the descriptions of life literally in the trenches of WWI, when wars were still fought hand-to-hand, are so moving.
I also then finished part two of the series, The Road Back, which follows the soldiers as they try to re-enter a society that just doesn’t get what they went through. For books that are almost 100 years old, they are still so relevant and powerful. The Road Back portrays PTSD so strongly decades before the condition was identified and named . Highly recommended and unforgettable.
