Science fiction with excellent plot/characters?

I’ve found a lot of scifi recommendations are focused on recommending hard scifi where the focus is on whether or not the science involved in the story is accurate/believable. While I do like science in my stories, I’m searching for more literary style scifi where the focus is on an excellent story and great characters
