I find myself drawn to narratives about surreal landscapes and challenges to the boundaries of reality. I seek out stories inhabited by enigmatic characters navigating existential mysteries, where the mundane coexists with the extraordinary. Ultimately, I prefer it is I can actual comprehend the work, but I do like being challenged a little. Dark humor, philosophical musings, intricate plot twists, speculative fiction and alternative history are my jam. Favorites:
Midnight’s Children
Shantaram
The World Without Us
Everything is Illuminated
Perverted by Language
Earth Abides
American Gods
A Wild Sheep Chase
The Man in the High Castle
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle
The Devil in the White City
The Lost City of Z
Station Eleven
Parable of the Talents
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead
The Yiddish Policeman’s Union
The Plot Against America
Here some titles I am considering for my next read:
Kindred
The Left Hand of Darkness
The Gods Themselves
Severance
Semiosis
The City & The City
Shame
Sputnik Sweetheart
What do you think? What should I read next? Something else?
