I’m currently reading Holly by Stephen King and he mentions covid/masks/vaccines constantly. It got me thinking about other books I’ve read in the past few years that have done the same. How do y’all feel about it? I understand why it might be necessary in some circumstances, but part of me hates it. I already lived through the worst of the pandemic and now I can’t even get away when I’m reading fictional material. Curious what others think!

I don’t like it when books, movies, or TV shows do it. I lived it, I don’t want to relive it.
But it had worldwide impact that affected a lot of people so I understand. Imagine if books set in the early 40s never mentioned WW2. It would be a bit strange.
I haven’t read one that does yet. The only book I’ve seen people talk about that has it is Holly. Hardly anyone seems to like that aspect of the book, at least based on the comments I’ve read.
Rarely read books from this century, so it’s been a non issue for me.
