Need a book with a morally grey character

I have a pretty specific request!
I’m finishing up The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey and I’m going to be so sad to say goodbye to Amos Burton. I love a man who does violence with enthusiasm but is nice to women and children and attaches themself to a character they view as Good to keep them on the right track. Hitmen, criminals, etc.

Think also Mr. Gray from The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater.

I like magical realism, fiction, sci-fi, and some fantasy. I like urban fantasy but only if it’s done really well. I prefer series over standalone books and I love character heavy books. I don’t like romance and I HATE miscommunication. I LOVE found family, it is my bread and butter, and I love queer stories.
