Hi everyone!
I recently finished binge watching the dark comedy series “Deadloch” (otherwise described as a feminist noir comedy) and am craving some books with a similar vibes.
For context; Deadloch is almost a parody of ‘Broadchurch’, with two detectives having to solve an ongoing spree of murders in the town. It is also very very gay.
The parts that I really enjoyed were:
– the juxtaposition between Dulcie, a very put together, stand off-ish sergeant, and Eddie, a detective from out of state who is very lax and otherwise forms very much a “the odd couple” dynamic between herself and Dulcie
– the mild “enemies to friends” dynamic here, except here they were more just ‘workplace enemies’ and I’d love something closer to an enemies to lovers dynamic
– the setting; a small town in Tasmania
– the dark comedy duality of the storyline
– it was really really gay lol
And so I’d love a book that contains as many of these factors as possible!
I’ve typed out all of this and realised I could’ve just described it as “Gay ‘odd-couple’ detective partners forced to solve a crime in a small town, and maybe learn to understand each other in the mean time. Also it’s gay”
Thanks!!
