Suggest me a book where a really bad scummy guy has a near death experience, but instead of having a flash of heaven he sees the burning pits of hell and decides to change because he’s scared out of his wits

I’m looking for some sort of comedy, that takes place in a city or something similar. Where there’s some really bad scummy guide, like a scam artist, I’m mafia boss, or just a really bad guy. Someone you don’t want to mess with. I want him to one day have a near death experience and wake up either in the hospital or on the street. And he’s shaking to the core. Basically, in the news and media you always hear about death experiences and people seeing a bright light, seeing heaven, or hearing the voice of an angel or God. I want him to be like oh shit! I saw fire, brimstone, I heard screams and there are hands crawling towards me! I want him to be so messed up that he ends up going on the path of righteousness and trying to become a better guy. Helping the homeless, getting a proper job, treating people kindly. Trying to win those heaven brownie points. Does this exist? Or should I start writing lol
