Hi all,
I’ve read the first two books of Edmund Morris’s trilogy on Theodore Roosevelt (i.e. The Rise… and Theodore Rex). I found them fantastic books and wholly recommended them as a biography of an incredible figure. I’m a bit torn about how to approach Colonel Rex.
I know for certain I will read it some day, however I am also aware of and interested in the book The River of Doubt by Candice Millard, which I presume more singularly focuses on his Amazon river trip.
I am sure Morris’s book covers this event, but likely to not as much detail or style as Millard’s book does. Has anyone read both of them and have recommendations as to how to approach or read them together? Does it make sense to read one then the other? Or even to start reading one (e.g. Morris’s book), then to switch to the River of Doubt for that story, then switch back to Morris’s book?
