I’ve been reading a lot of sci-fi recently (project Hail Mary, children of time, Sand, candy house, dark matter, theft of fire) and some others like shogun and moneyball.
However I can’t seem to pick up a new book. I’m somewhat board with Space. And many sci-fi books are feeling unoriginal. Reading has started to feel like a chore.
I also just don’t like murder mysteries usually.
I enjoy twists and world building. Characters don’t need to be overly complex just not all single emotion. I enjoy realism with little plot armor if possible. Don’t need a happy ending. Short read or long read is ok.
I’m ok to try any genre, however I don’t want to cry or be scared.
Goodreads/Kindle recommendations are just all space opera sci-fi for me.

I’m reading The Library at Mount Char right now and it’s quite interesting- super weird but cool at the same time
How about A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith?
I very much enjoyed Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. It’s a slow paced Victorian-era fantasy that felt like The Secret Garden meets Howl’s Moving Castle. The second book was also delightful.
Nick Spalding’s Fat Chance about a married couple doing a weight loss challenge for a radio show.
It’s light and funny
No death, no space
