i’m in need of something that won’t depress me and is somewhat lighthearted. it can have heavy themes but i just don’t want it to shroud me in all encompassing sadness…
i like stuff that’s atmospheric with nice descriptions, even when it comes to the mundane, female MCs, themes on friendship.. i love literary fiction but i’m really open to anything !
think eve babitz, taylor jenkins ried, happy hour (marlowe granados), less (andrew sean greer), the idiot (elif batuman), bad thoughts (nada alic) etc.
I recently finished black swans by eve babitz and i loooved that short story collection, so i’m trying to chase that summer-y, (mostly) lighthearted feeling.
