So my favorite book series ever is red rising, and I noticed on rereads that I really loved the moments when characters talk about strategies before big battles or make up plans on the spot.
Some examples would be
(Spoilers for books 3, 5, and 6)
When Darrow and his crew are setting up for Atalantias invasion force and tracking down operatives/determining how to repel/survive as long as possible while it was swapping povs to another main character on the opposite side. The whole first 20 chapters had such amazing military action and I’m chasing that high.
In book 3 when Darrow and the howlers do a stealth operation to kidnap an important figure and it shows them scaling and entering a massive high rise and then run into another enemy force of operatives.
And book six where it swaps pov between Virginia and Lysander on opposite sides of an invasion and shows how each one reacts to the others moves like it was a chess game and then the subsequent moment where Virginia is doing a cat and mouse face off with apollonius.
I’d love to see more moments with smart characters pulling off crazy plans in a back and forth battle and cool stealth operations.
Bonus points if it can be in cyberpunk as well as i would love to get into that genre!

The Gaunt’s Ghosts books by Dan Abnett
You’d love *The Vice Versa* trilogy. Written by a veteran.
The last two installments are action packed and lots of military sci-fi. Well written.
