*Wuthering Heights* is also great, but pretty bleak.
What do you like about it? The emotionally constipated British romance or the Gothic mysteriousness?

I don’t if it’s the best, but Tenant of Wildfell Hall y Anne Bronte is definitely overlooked compared to Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights
Pristine-Look on
As a Jane Eyre fan the recommendation for Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier is on point! As far as other Bronte works I enjoyed The Tenent of Wildfell Hall and Agnes Grey to a lesser extent. Wuthering Heights wasn’t for me. Villette was good but took some work and effort to get through.
If you like Jane as a character then I recommend Persuasion by Jane Austen for a protagonist with a similar vibe. But keep in mind Austen’s writing is very austere compared to the passion of the Bronte sisters, and it is not gothic.
If you like the gothic aspect then I also highly recommend Dracula by Bram Stoker and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley!
