I know my request is very specific. I want to note here that this is just my personal preference. But I would really appreciate your help, because it is really hard for me to find a book that I truly enjoy. To clarify my preferences I made a list of do’s and don’ts:
Do’s:
* Slice of life
* A realistic setting
* Not just fluffy, but also a serious topic
* East Asian literature
* Fantasy elements/setting
* A story about personal growth
* Preferably romance, but not necessary (but if, I would like to read about a man and woman, and a healthy relationship)
* Work life
Don’ts:
* Animals
* Witches or Witchers
* Thriller
* Horror
* Murder Mystery
* Vampires
* Werewolves
* Manga
* Too brutal
* Drama
* War
Not all of the do’s have to be in a single book, but a good combination would be nice. On the other hand no of the don’ts should be present. Also the books should have a score of at least 4 stars on Goodreads.
Examples for books that met these criteria are:
* “Yumi and the Nightmare Painter” by Brandon Sanderson
* “Tress of the Emerald Sea” by Brandon Sanderson
* “Die Liebe kommt auf Zehenspitzen” by Kristina Günak
* “What you are looking for is in the Library” by Michiko Aoyama
Authors or book titles I don’t want to read from: Beware of Chicken, Radiance by Grace Draven, Legends and Lattes, T. Kingfisher.
I hope you can help me with this very specific request 🙂
