I find a lot of humour in rereading books I had big obsessions with growing up. There’s this one I did I book report on in 7th grade, I’ll describe as much as I can remember but it’s a long shot since I’m 20 now.
Ok so in the universe this story takes place in, everyone is born with a pre determined destiny. It could be something as simple as opening a door for someone or as extreme as a huge role in politics but for each person it was meant to be determined almost immediately after birth (I think?) so it was a huge deal. Whatever your “destiny” was determined your ranking in society, politicians, star athletes etc would be upper class, someone who’s meant to stand in a specific spot on a random day or open a door for someone would be lower class. Can’t remember what exactly they did to the baby to find out though.
I feel like that first part is somewhat accurate? Heres where things get fuzzy in my mind. So I think the storyline followed a teenage girl who wasn’t born with any fate connected to her which caused issues for her family somehow. I’m remembering her brother not agreeing with his “low class” destiny either and deciding to not fulfil it which resulted in his death by the government.. or something like that. I remember the cover being a purple or blue colour.
If any of that sounds familiar help a girl out!
