Looking for books I can listen to as audio books while cleaning or doing other chores.

When I was younger I absolutely loved fantasy/adventure YA books like Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and especially the whole Percy Jackson series. Recently downloaded Libby and gave the PJO series audiobooks a listen through and they were the perfect background book. Interesting, fast paced, funny, reasonably intense but still lighthearted, and not so dense I couldn’t follow along while doing chores.

Tried branching off in to some “popular” adult fiction and it’s been really hard to find something that can work for me in the same way. A lot of book lists I’ve found contain either romance/smut heavy books whose plots aren’t all that interesting, or really dense and about depressing topics, or overall too slow paced for me to get into them.

I definitely don’t mind some romance (really like The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue) and don’t mind heavier subject matter at times, but I really want something that will overall keep me entertained and invested so I don’t stop cleaning when I need to.

In addition to Percy Jackson books some other winners for this task have been Good Omens, Hitchhikers Guide, Themis Files series, American Gods, Circe, The Lost Apothecary, and The Midnight Library.

Nothing wrong with YA, here are a few of my favorite a series recs, some YA, but I think adult readers will still enjoy

Harry Potter —> The Scholomance Trilogy by Naomi Novik, *maybe* the Simon Snow trilogy by Rainbow Rowell (this is a very specific rec lol)

Percy Jackson —> Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan, The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Hunger Games —-> Red Rising series by Pierce Brown, Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, Gregor the Overlander series by Suzanne Collins
