I’m a grad student in psychology, and I’m afraid I get a touch confused when organizing theories based on mode of explanation (functional, mechanistic), level of analysis (computational, algorithmic), and broader traditions (structuralist, functionalist) etc. More often than not, these things interact in interesting ways, and I think I need to solidify my understanding of these ideas. Do you have recommendations for books that delve into explanation and theories in psychology / cognitive sciences / philosophy?
