I’m a junior at a school that contains 7th-12th graders, I’m going to be starting a book club(all clubs have teacher sponsors) and I’m looking for book ideas to bring to our sponsor, should I avoid stuff that students can optionally read for a class(I know to avoid required reading)? Our optional reading list is pretty wide, my tastes are Vonnegutsh kinda post ww2 literature so my suggestions are rather limited, obviously not school appropriate most of the time(looking at those 7th graders although we might be able to split reading groups up? and permission slips?) Of course it should mostly be up to the club but suggestions to bring to the table?(For context my school has great levels of nerdom+ and most reading in free time is either people reading romance novels or manga or like me with classics)

For context I want to imitate the discussion between me and my teacher about books like Suttree and Mother Night but between students, not just about plot but about technical and creative writing aspects, a lot of discussion will be heavily based off of the AP lit skill categories
