I’m more into reading fiction so preferably those books! The time period doesnt matter much but I’d like more modern or futuristic descriptions. The city doesn’t need to be relevant to the plot but its great if it is! Just small details and descriptions that make a place feel like home, bonus points for festivals.
Really specific itch because i miss the specific feelings this one annual market back home gave me :’))

The great, essential book of cities is *Invisible Cities* by Italo Calvino. It’s not modern or futuristic but it is *the* book to go for if you want descriptions of towns!
I’d say Virginia Woolf’s Orlando just for the depictions of the Elizabethan frost fair on the Thames, which is the first thing I thought of when you said festivals & annual market.
