Okay so I don’t really like try hard prose, where you know they pulled out a thesaurus and it doesn’t sound very natural. I like a good story that took thought and has good characters where they don’t al have the same speech pattern and say only the right predictable things to butter up Y/N lol. At the same time I’m not snobby though and my trash is someone else’s ACOTAR and someone else’s trash is my twilight. Recently I read the lovely bones and I thought that was great. Then I read let the right one in and that was good too. I tried Eileen and it was a lot of first person babble. I’m a girl btw and I’m not into war stuff.
I’m feeling like I want to read something espionage related rn. I watched Patriot on Amazon like 2 years ago, if there was a book like that show it would be so good.
I guess I like books sometimes where circumstances can be predictable, but outcomes may not be. And I like writers that don’t try too hard to sound like a genius but are great at making interesting or even interestingly boring characters with unique traits from one another. I can enjoy both high stakes and low stakes because mainly I like something that sucks me in and has little details where you’re just like wow I wouldn’t have thought of that or wow their perspective is so new to me.
