Not comparing them to the action/fight scenes in movies; rather, I’m just curious as to whether or not people enjoy reading about them. I’m not sure whether I’m alone in this, but I’ve never found them engaging. Although I enjoy the drama and the exchanges that take place throughout the fight, I didn’t feel any suspense or thrills when reading them.

In many cases, there’s not much tension because you know the main character never dies, so I’d rather watch them than read them.
But there’s always exceptions, and the soundtrack makes a huge difference.
I have to agree!! I find myself waiting for it to end and waiting for the result. Not really interested in the actual fight, lol.
It depends. A lot of the time I have similar reaction to you and it’s more the events leading up to the fight and the consequences are the interesting part. For whom the bell tolls by Hemingway stands out as an example where I definitely enjoyed the battle scene.
I zone out or skim read if the fight scenes are too long.
