      **One More Thing** by BJ Novak (who was a writer and guest star on *The Office*, among other things). Really funny short stories that are all kind of fun twists on familiar concepts

      **The Imago Sequence** by Laird Barron. A collection of psychological suspense/horror short stories.

      **World War Z: The Definitive Edition** by Max Brooks. Written as a non-fiction ten years after zombies almost wiped out humanity. Each chapter is a new person sharing their experiences from before, during, and/or after the apocalypse. It’s not technically different short stories, but each chapter is a brand new character from all over the world. Aside from being arranged in roughly chronological order, each person tells a totally different story. It’s really really good.

      There’s an ironically named series of short story collections starring female protagonists and written mainly by female authors, all collected/edited by **Esther Freisner** (who also provides a few of the stories).

      The books are –

      * Chicks In Chainmail
      * Did You Say Chicks?!
      * Chicks ‘n Chained Males
      * The Chick Is In The Mail
      * Turn The Other Chick
      * Chicks And Balances

      The first three can also be found in an omnibus called *Chicks Ahoy!*
