Ideally, I’d like a book that contains a concise history of the 15 former Soviet republics. It’s hard to believe a book like this doesn’t exist, but I can’t find one. I want to avoid buying a ton of books on the individual countries, mostly for my wife’s sake as my book shelves are bursting at the seams. I’ve read books that sort of touch on this, like books by Robert Kaplan and Erika Fatland, and I’ve loved them so I wouldn’t mind recommendations like that. However I’m really looking for true histories.
